Tannaghmore PS Feraghal McConville Cup Winners 2025
Congratulations to the boy teams of Tannaghmore PS who today won the Fearghal McConville Cup and were runners up in the Seamus Heffron Cup, at the annual St Ronan's College Primary School Blitz, held at Davitt Park. Two teams entered and the second team played great football getting to the final of the Seamus Heffron Cup, narrowly losing out to St Colman's PS, Tullyleish. The boys played some great football and took some great scores along the way. A great achievement to get to the final. The first team, who have had an excellent school season this year- winning the Lismore tournament, Edmund Murray Cup, All County Indoors and narrowly losing in the final of the Malachy McGeeney Cup, were determined to end their primary school year in style. Having won the last 9 in 10 years, the young players knew that many of the current and past county players had played, competed and won this prestigious blitz. This year 22 teams took part. Winning their group in style, Tannaghmore overcame St John The Baptists in the semi final. This set up a meeting with the Malachy McGeeney champions, St Francis PS, Lurgan. In a great final Tannaghmore started the brightest, scoring a well worked goal, straight from the throw in. They kept the pressure up throughout the final and were deserved winners at the end. Joint captains, Noah Gonclaves and Freddie O’Connor lifted the Fearghal McConville Cup, amid jubilant scenes. Special thanks to Conor Bell, Dermot Kearney, Mark Curran and Conan McCafferty for their help with the teams and to Paul McKenna for his coaching with the boys all year.
