Letter for Parents

15th Oct 2020

15/10/2020

Dear Parent/ Guardian

You will be aware that the Stormont Executive announced a two week extended Halloween break this year in light of the very serious situation with COVID19. The school therefore will close tomorrow Friday 16th October at 3pm and will reopen on Monday 2nd November.

After the long break children have had from school, this was the last thing that school staff expected or wanted. It is unfortunate the children are missing out on the usual Halloween celebrations. The children have been working hard in school and I would encourage your child to continue to support their learning through the break with the online platforms MyON, Accelerated Reader, Mathletics and Bug Club.

We all hope to be back in school on 2nd November but this will only happen with the cooperation of the whole community in keeping the virus at bay. Our children have been exemplary in following the guidance and new routines and procedures in school. We all have our part to play and I would urge everyone to adhere to the Public Health advice and restrict their interactions with other people/ households.

To date our school has remained a safe environment for children, staff and visitors. I would like to thank the staff in school and you, our parents/guardians, for your support and commitment shown to our new school procedures. Together we have achieved a lot over the last nine weeks.

During the week beginning Monday 19 October direct payments will be made to pupils in receipt of Free School Meals.

Please ensure that all school meals and school transport are booked before Friday 30th October. The after school clubs for the first week back are bookable through Healthy Kidz with the exception of Primary 7 boys’ GAA which has to be booked through school money.

I hope all the children and parents have a happy and safe Halloween break.

Seamus McCreesh
