Letter for Parents & Guardians
Dear Parent/ Guardian
I hope all the children enjoyed their midterm break and everyone is safe and well. Thank you for your support for our very successful Halloween Draw.
Parent Teacher Meetings
In our post-lockdown survey, the vast majority of parents expressed the wish to keep the same format for parent teacher meetings as last year. To book a 10-minute telephone meeting with your child’s teacher, please click on the Parent Teacher Meetings 2021 link on the school website. When you are prompted for a password please use lurgan21 all lower case. Please select the appropriate teacher for your child and select a meeting slot that is a suitable time for you. The meetings are scheduled for the week of Monday 8th - Friday 19th November. Once you have selected the time that is suitable, it is important that you fill in all the information required. Please include the phone number of the telephone that you wish to receive the call on, the name of the person who will be receiving the call and the name of the child. Your phone's display will show 'No Caller ID' when you are called. The call will last for 10 minutes and will focus on your child's progress in school.
Please note; The parent teacher meetings for P3C Mrs Hughes/ Mrs Devlins class will take place after Christmas and you will be notified of this in good time.
COVID Restrictions
We continue to have COVID19 positive cases in our community and in our school. For this reason, we will continue with the same policies and procedures for exiting and entering the school grounds. I understand that these rules can be frustrating for parents but I would ask, in the interest of safety of our staff and children, that parents/ guardians continue to;
- Socially distance at the school gate and only enter when your child’s class is called
- Continue to wear a face covering if possible.
Due to COVID19 restrictions we will not be able to host parents in school at Christmas time. Like last year, we plan for each year group to perform a Christmas themed short production and we will make it available to parents through the school website.
Road Safety
We recently had an incident outside the school where one of our Patrol men was struck by a car. Thankfully, the member of staff recovered quickly, but the incident highlighted the need for motorists and staff to be mindful of the safety of our whole school community. I would encourage parents and guardians to walk their children to school if possible to reduce the volume of traffic around the school. If taking the car is unavoidable please take care when driving around the school and please avoid parking on footpaths which may cause pedestrians to step out on to the road.
Library Books
Mrs Brannigan will be carrying out a stocktake of our school library books next week and I would really appreciate it if books at home could be checked to see if they belong to the school library. These books will either have barcodes beginning with C30 or CD; and some may have a small 5 digit barcode such as 12453. They may also have Central Library stamped on the inside label or Southern Education and Library Board. If any books are found I would be grateful if they could be brought into the class teacher.
Healthy Kidz Clubs
Healthy Kidz afterschool clubs starting Monday 8th November are available to book at https://healthy-kidz.com/product/tannaghmoreps/.
Yours Sincerely
